During my university days, just before my 1st semester final exam, I fell seriously ill with a high fever. It was during the COVID-19 pandemic, and news of my illness quickly spread across the university. At that time, many people were more worried about whether I would be able to appear for the exam than about my health. If I tested positive, I would have to wait until the next year to take the exam—no re-exam would be allowed. That evening, I started feeling unwell, and my parents only came to know at night. Since I was in Dibrugarh, they couldn’t come immediately. I felt completely broken—physically weak and mentally exhausted. But one friend, who wasn’t even my roommate, stood by me.
