Class Struggle In Assam Tea Plantations With Special Reference To The Assam Hooch Tragedy Occurred In Salmora Tea Estate,Golaghat,Assam:

Image
Introduction : The tea gardens of Assam are the dignity of Assam, the prosperity of Assam, and the privilege of Assam. The tea garden workers even don't know for themselves how much they have stimulated the Assam tea industry by plucking tea with both hands with big bags tied on their backs. The Britishers initiated tea gardens in Assam in 1837 to establish enormous tea gardens on the land of Assam. Tea was cultivated in Assam in 1851. From the very beginning, the indigenous people of Assam had not conveyed their desire to work as laborers in tea gardens in Assam. In this context, in 1841, the Assam Company decided to import labor from the 'Chotanagpur' area of Jharkhand. At that time, laborers were also imported to Assam from states like Orissa, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, etc. Many workers were also forcibly brought to Assam by giving various inducements. Despite the arduous labor, the workers in return only received limited wages and agony from t...

Afghanistan Crisis : Why is India most concerned about Afghanistan

Image
For the first time in global ‘geopolitics,’ all countries want the problem of Afghanistan to be solved almost in the same way. Though all countries have their own objectives behind it.The law and order situation in that country is heading for further uncertainty as the United States begins a process to withdraw all American troops from Afghanistan before September 15, 2021. The rapid pace with which the Taliban has captured Afghanistan's Districts, especially rural areas, has become a more worrying issue in today’s context. According to the Taliban, they have already brought 85% of the territory under their control. In parallel, the Taliban has declared the ‘Islamic Canonical Law'(Sharia) on occupied territories. The Taliban has banned women from working and many surrendered Afghan soldiers have also been sentenced to death. The US has failed to resist the Taliban despite training more than two lakh military forces. One of the main reasons for this is lack of leadership.Man...

Unrest in Myanmar

Image
Unrest in Myanmar   From a historical point of view, if we look at it, we can see that Myanmar which gained independence in 1947 was a major part of colonial India. In1937, the British identified Myanmar as a separate colony. Since the area was primarily dominated by a particular community called the "Burman", so the British called the place Burma. 25% of seats in Myanmar's parliament are reserved for the army. The Army has been occupying 56 of the total 224 seats in the Upper House and 110 seats in 440 seats in the Lower House. Myanmar has been heading for an awful situation in a recent way. Myanmar continued to be ruled by the military for decades. A Democratic movement led by peace Nobel Laureate Aung San Suu Kyi commenced ending military rule in Myanmar. For which Aung San Suu Kyi was bestowed a life of bondage by the military for many years. Subsequently, with esteem to the democratic movement of the countrymen, the...

Assam Assembly Elections 2021 and Women's Representation: A Brief Overview

The result of the Assam Assembly elections 2021 was announced on 2nd May ending the last month of long suspicion. At the end of the result, an alarming picture once again worried the conscious people. At a time when the emphasis is on equalizing women's representation in the political arena, at a time when there has been a demand for reservation of seats to ensure women's participation in politics, it is very much a matter of concern that the representation of women in the recently announced Assam Assembly elections has come down to 4.7%. This time the Assam Assembly elections found women's candidates to be much limited compared to men. Out of the total 946 candidates in 126 constituencies, only 74 were female representatives, with a percentage rate of only 7.8%. Out of a total of women candidates, only 6 candidates have won.           Theyare AjantaNeog (Golaghat), ...

The large dam built in the Himalayas and its overall impact:

Image
The glacier burst took place in Chamoli district of Uttrakhand on February 7th this year.Environmentalists blame climate change and global warming as the main cause of the explosion. In parallel the dams built in the Himalayas have also been termed as the main reasons.Since the holocaust in Himalayan Dhauliganga river, scientists fear that these hydropower plants will bring a grave threat to the human race in the coming days.We are all aware that the 10th largest and 19th small hydroelectric plant dams were completely destroyed due to cloud burst at Kedernath in 2013.The devastating earthquake in 2015 in our neighbouring country Nepal, damaged the dam of more than 30 hydropower plants in the country.Thermal power plants are the main source of power. In the view of the gradual decline in the amount of renewable fuel used in these projects, most countries in the world focused more on power generation through hydropower projects. That is why the focus of the countries on hydropower...

Increase in election expenditure is a matter of concern:

Image
There was a time when politics was just a means of public service. At that time MLAs were truly the real servants of the people. These issues of increasing the amount of assets by misusing the post were unimaginable in the past.Political figures lived a very simple and unpretentious life.In the context of Assam, most MLAs had no private vehicles at that time and most of the MLAs used buses from the State transport department to participate in the assembly session or to travel to the erstwhile capital Shillong for public work. The most noticeable thing in the context of elections right now is election expenditure. It has been made mandatory for every candidate contesting elections as well as political parties to submit the accounts of the money spent on election campaigns to the Election Commission.Earlier there was no ceiling on the money a candidate could spend on election campaigns.Later, seeing an increase tendency to attract voters with the force of money, the Election Commission raised...

Books are precious gift to the world

Image
Books are precious gift to  the world     “Books   are a uniquely portable magic.” – .. Many books on different subjects are read at different times . But sometimes there are many books that are read and found a special satisfaction. The happiness of reading a book is known only to those who read it.Mental disturbances, physical depression, bad habits, incontinence can be overcome by reading books. The success of a book depends largely on the author's language style, the presentation of the theme.Sadly, however, books seems to be worthless in today's so-called educated society.Recently I was overjoyed to read two books  by Sushmita Banerjiee. The two special books are - 'A Kabuliwala's Bengali Wife' and 'Mullah Omar,Taliban and I'.Since the wars between the US and Afghanistan, there has naturally been a lot of curiosity about Afghanistan. At the same time,an Indian educated women had lead to an unimaginable captivity life in a country of different languag...
